Saving our Seniors
The Saving Our Seniors (SOS) fostering program is designed to help older cats and dogs, while providing companionship and a sense of purpose to the foster parent – especially seniors who may benefit from the company of a pet without the associated costs or long-term commitment.
Senior pets who are surrendered often have a difficult time adjusting to life in a shelter after living their entire life in a home. Some are so distraught that they stop eating and drinking, which can quickly jeopardize their health. Getting them into a foster home can literally save their lives, while enriching the life of the foster.
UAF provides medical care for the pet, as well as food, litter, and all other supplies needed to properly care for the pet. The foster parent provides love and a safe place for the cat or dog to live until they are adopted.
