Arizona Pet Plates
United Animal Friends has been awarded several grants from the Arizona Companion Animal Spay/Neuter Committee to help fund our Spay/Neuter Certificate Program, our Community Cat Spay/Neuter Program, and the spay/neuter of our adoptable cats and dogs.  These grants are made possible from the support and sale of Arizona Companion Animal Spay and Neuter Pet Friendly License Plates.  Become part of the driving force in the battle against pet homelessness in Arizona with the purchase of a Pet Friendly license plate.  $17 from the sale goes toward Arizona no-cost or low-cost spay and neuter programs like ours. Your support of Arizona animals continues each year you renew your plate.  Additionally, you may make donations to the fund through your Arizona tax forms.  For more information, visit the Arizona Pet Plates website at

Donating Appreciated Stock
If you own stock with substantial unappreciated gains and you have owned the stock for at least one year, you may earn a double benefit from donating it.  The tax benefits include deducting the amount of the charitable donation and avoiding the unrealized gains on the donated stock.  Here's an example from CBS News:

"Let's say you bought stock for $10,000 last May and today it is worth $20,000.  You plan to donate it to a charitable organization.  If you sold the $20,000 stock instead of donating it, you would pay capital gains tax on the $10,000 gain in value.  The tax rate for long-term capital gains is 15%.  Therefore, the tax savings for donating rather than selling the stock would be $1,500 (10,000 x 15%).

In addition, you can claim a deduction of the market value of the donated shares -- the full $20,000 -- as a charitable donation deduction.  If you are in the 25% federal tax bracket, this could generate another $5,000 (20,000 x 25$) in tax savings. This brings your total tax savings to $6,500.  If you are in a higher tax bracket, your donation deduction will be even more.  Also consider this: you are giving a gift that is two times what it originally cost you."

Prescott Noon Lions Paper Recycling Project
You've seen their collection bins and trailers around town, but do you know how much good they do?  The Prescott Noon Lions Club takes the paper you drop off and turns it into grants to support charitable organizations like ours. The program has generated over $200,000 in yearly donations in past years.  United Animal Friends has been the recipient of several grants from the Prescott Noon Lions Club to support our Spay/Neuter Certificate Program and Emergency Medical Program.  For more information and a listing of drop-off locations, go to
